How To Split a PDF File

Portable Document File format (pdf for short) is the most common file format used to share all sorts of documents. During a student, you will be have access to all sorts of documents in pdf file from reports of international organizations such as United Nations organizations many sub-organizations and World Bank to lecturer notes. During this days, the amount of information available is staggering and filtering through these kinds of information and getting those you need or use for study purposes is a  skill that every student has to master to survive in the 21st learning environment. One of the simple but useful skill is to slipt up a pdf file and get the sections or pages that you need. Here I will show you how to do it using Google Chrome web browser to split the document.



Split pdf file using Google Chrome.

Here are the steps:



Step 1: Download and Install Google Chrome.

Go to www.google.com which is the google web search engine site or you can use other search engines such as microsoft bing, yahoo and etc and search for Google chrome. Find the link, download and install it on your PC or smart devices like smart phone and etc. Google will allow you to download  an installer software and which you need to launch to complete installation. Also, you need to be connected to the internet to do this. If you are using mobile devices you can download and install from Google Playstore. Also, just check your PC or device to see if Google Chrome is pre-installed in it

Step 2: Launch Chrome and open the File.

Launch google chrome, and once loaded on the screen, click on the New page Tab. Then put the cursor in the the website address bar as shown in the picture below. Then press the Ctrl + O to get the Open File dialog box.

  

Step 3: Click the Print Button.

Using the Open dialog box, locate the pdf file that you want to split. Once it is opened, push the mouse pointer over the screen and google will display the print, download and etc buttons on the top right corner of the window. Click the Print button. This will give the Print dialog box.

    

 Step 4: Specify your Criteria settings to split.

From the print dialog box, specify the criteria on how to do the split, using the page specification text box as shown below. In this example, extract page 1-5 and page 10-11 only from the selected file.


Step 5: Save the File.

Click the Save button to save the file. In the Save as dialog box, give the splinted file a decent name and save. You can continue to follow the same process to split into many ranges as you like. Once you are finished you can close the Chrome File window. 

Your original file will remain as it is and you have your splinted files as well.
